The Art of Being Grateful

A Season of Thanks

Tis the season that we share what we are thankful for. So what is it that you are thankful for…friends, family, job, home???? These seem to be the common answers, but I challenge you to go deeper and find something of great magnitude that you are thankful for. Now this doesn’t have to be something that you share with anyone, but maybe something you write in your journal, pray about or just keep close to your heart. Normally, I would keep my gratitude close to my heart and not share with anyone. Because of my journey and growth I am ready to be transparent and share what I am thankful for. So here goes….

Let’s take a trip into my world. While I am very thankful for my family, to have a job and a home, there is something greater that I am thankful for this year. This may sound crazy to some, but I am thankful for my happiness and peace of mind. I am sure these seem pretty simple and even minuscule, but this is what is important to my livelihood.

Since getting divorced, I have had to find myself again. In all of that, I realized how unhappy I was and struggled to just be at peace with everyday life. With the help of my faith, therapy, a strong support system and focusing my energy on this blog, I began to understand who I was again. I learned what made me happy and how to love me once again.

So today, a year later, I can honestly say I am so happy and at peace with where I am in life. My journey is far from over, but I am excited about what is ahead of me because I survived what is behind me. Now I have a smile on my face daily, but most importantly…I smile on the inside. I am no longer consumed with negative self doubting thoughts, but rather positive, encouraging thoughts that inspire to do more and be a better me.

I am thankful for the opportunity to choose a life of happiness every day. I hope you too have determined what you are thankful for.

Fondly,

Madam Manners Monogram
